Trends for 2018 Fall

2018-03-07

1. Hello Hygge

Hygge, the Danish quality of 'coziness and comfortable conviviality,' is warming up the kids’ market with oversized silhouettes, chunky knits, shearling accents, woven textiles and soft faux furs. Cowl neck sweaters, relaxed beanies and ultra-soft scarves will make it easy to get comfy under a flannel blanket after a long day of playing in the snow.

2. All That Glitters

Don't let anyone dull your sparkle—especially during Fall 2018. Anything that shines is on trend, with rhinestones, sequins and glitter galore! Reversible sequins are a particularly bright idea, covering everything from pillows and journals to T-shirts and leggings.

3. Happily Ever After

Unicorns, unicorns and more unicorns…It’s no surprise this best-selling motif across children's and adult fashion is dominating another season, with several kids'  collections continuing the magic to include more fairy tale-inspired elements like mermaids, fairies, dragons and castles.

4. Out of This World

After the new Star Wars film and last year's solar eclipse, designers are still looking toward the sky. Stars, planets, rockets and aliens are touching down on fall collections.  In addition, metallic accents are commonly used to elevate galactic graphics for a sophisticated statement that still remains young and fun.

5. Tone It Down

Think muted and minimalist. Over the past few seasons, dusty rose has joined the palette of neutrals with several other hues following suit. Hunkering down into a more relaxed and versatile vibe include steel blues, lavenders and mossy greens.  Minimalist graphics also team up with the toned down movement to prove that less really is more.
